With a strong westerly wind forecast, and a good chance that folk were more than familiar enough with the GW by now, it was decided to take the GW west over the river into the lanes south of Athlone.
Given the day was as warm and bright it wasn’t surprising to see another large gathering, though this did break down into two groups once we were clear of Athlone. Into the wind to Naughton’s garage for coffee, even ice cream for some, and then home with the gale. The improvement in fitness and confidence is beginning to clearly be seen and average speeds are creeping up.
