Given the increase in confidence and speed that the Meet n Spin group has been showing the past couple of weeks, it was decided that we’d go a little further and get off the greenway for the lanes. A promise of Shannonside qualities was revealed with an early split and arrival at Gussies Bar in Ballycumber in more than one bunch. They must have heard our brakes squealing as a large tray of warm scones and as much tea and coffee as we could drink was being put out as we opened the doors. With room for all (and some) to sit comfortably and a price of just €4 a head Gussies played a blinder. We will be back!
On the ride home a stronger group went on ahead, though by following the outbound leg through Moate when the rest of us cut through the lanes south of it, we managed to arrive on the GW at the same time and place. Here approximately half the group rode on to the ARSC car park start, while the remainder headed north through lanes to Ballymore and then back. The first group probably stayed dry; the second certainly didn’t.
