With week 7 having been blown out by a wind the club’s riders deemed unsafe for themselves let alone the less experienced, we were determined to get back to it this week. And yes, it was blowy again, just less so. A nasty hail squall about an hour before the 9am was quite possibly the reason, along with the wind of course, that numbers were down a bit. At least the wind was from the south, so we headed up the GW with it on our sides all the way to Jack’s Stop in Streamstown. As ever with Jack’s the scones were fresh and the service fast, which was a good thing as there was only just enough room to get us in and had we arrived a few minutes later we would have had to endure the chilly shade outside as Lakeside CC rode in en masse. While there were a few stretches on the ride home where the wind got ‘interesting’, everyone arrived back safely and suitably weary after a couple of hours and just over 40kms. These Saturday spins are really developing now!
